Argyris Stasinakis is an entrepreneur and investor in SaaS, DaaS and keen to explore applications arising from technology innovation across all domains of life. In addition, he cherishes the prospect of mentoring founders in accelerating/ guiding/ protecting their endeavours, both from a strategic as well as an operational perspective.
Argyris exited from MarineTraffic (MT), the global leader in maritime ship tracking intelligence, in March 2023 – acquired by Kpler, a leader in commodities tracking. MarineTraffic is a business growing at >25% y-o-y, >80% being recurring revenue. In 2022, they closed at 20M euro top line and >4M euro EBITDA. They achieved this through a world-class product and dataset and a strong results-oriented and people-centric culture. MarineTraffic EV at time of exit was ~$100M, including roll-over returns. They were three partners, all exiting together.
During his 10 years at MT (2013-23), Argyris served as executive partner and board member. He led sales, explore, strategy development, partnerships and launched the product vertical focusing on Port Call Optimisation. He represented MT at international organizations driven by the global green agenda in shipping. He also led their M&A exit journey, culminating to the Kpler deal.
A founder and entrepreneur most of his life, Argyris was a founding partner and served as executive chairman of WOW group (2005-2014), a digital agency active in European and Middle East markets, offering state of the art e-learning, e-commerce and e-marketing solutions. Before that, he started his career as a technology consultant in 1998; he performed in government and private European organizations, focusing on information systems integration and restructuring.
In his journey so far, Argyris has naturally led or supported most business functions, from strategy, to GTM and success, to product, to networking and fund-raising, while his businesses were growing. He likes numbers and facts, but sometimes makes decisions on intuition too.
Argyris was awarded bachelor’s (hons.) in physics (Keble, 1990-3) and a doctorate in particle physics (Wolfson, 1993-8) from the University of Oxford, where he is also proud to have been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship (1994-7).
