Buffy Alegria, Managing Director, at LOUD Capital, is a financial entrepreneur, advisor, angel investor, and venture capitalist. She was most recently a Managing Partner at SteelSky Ventures LLC and partnered in building the firm from its inception into one of the largest women’s health-focused funds. As a Managing Partner at SteelSky, Buffy managed the firm’s investments in the following Portfolio Companies: 23andMe, Bend Health, Cayaba Care, Concerto Care, Huma.ai, Lark, Mae, Midi, Motivo, Moving Analytics, Origin, Proov, Raydiant Oximetry, Ruby Love, Twentyeight Health, and Zipline.
Buffy is passionate about redefining the venture capital model, supporting, and elevating female entrepreneurs and investors, as well as continuing work to help advance healthcare and medicine, specifically for women and children. Buffy became a financial entrepreneur to combine her financial and business professional experience and skills, with her love of science, medicine, and healthcare. She is an investing member in three SeaChange Funds, Portfolia's Femtech Fund, Pipeline Angels, and Sage Growth Capital, all of which are female managed funds. Additionally, she has personally invested in more than 10 female-led companies and in numerous diverse founders. Prior to entering venture capital, Buffy had a 16-year banking career, gaining extensive experience in corporate banking, credit risk management operations, mergers and acquisitions, and project management. As a Vice President at US Bank, she established and managed credit and risk management departments within business banking, participated in due diligence and analysis of companies in all industries, and assessed merger and acquisition credit risk. Additionally, she has experience as a relationship manager in corporate banking, managing a large portfolio of corporate banking clients, analyzing and underwriting credit, and as a project manager, responsible for designing and deploying a proprietary underwriting system throughout a 25-state banking footprint.
Buffy earned an MST (Master of Management in Science and Technology) from Oregon Graduate Institute of Science & Technology in Oregon (now part of OHSU), as well as a BS in Psychology & Biology from Pacific University in Oregon. She is currently the Board Chair of Signal Health, an a clinically integrated care network within the Yakima Valley community. Buffy just completed 12 years of service on the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital board, most recently as Vice Chair. She has lead initiatives and is passionately working to transform how Women’s and Children’s Health Services are delivered within the Yakima Valley Memorial community. Buffy also served as a board member for the Washington State Hospital Association, currently continuing her service on their Hospital Boards Governing committee and is a member of the HealthTech 4Medicaid Venture Council.
Buffy is an adventurer and community leader who is always seeking new challenges and opportunities for personal growth. Buffy was born and raised in Oregon and currently resides in Washington State with her husband and three daughters.
