Mr. Jansen is a seasoned, senior operational and financial executive in building technology-based businesses and is an active venture investor. He has served as CFO, CEO, board and chairman roles in many technology-based companies ranging from SaaS geospatial informatics, energy conversion and power management, medical devices, advanced information display products, lights-out manufacturing automation and the licensing of patents and IP. He advises private and public companies on investor relations (IR) and public market equity strategies. He is the Managing Partner of Windermere Realty Management Company (Indianapolis), with its own portfolio of commercial real estate holdings. He is also the Treasurer of the American Numismatic Association (ANA) and recently completed an 8-year term on the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) at the US Mint, advising The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury on numismatic projects and issues.
He originally played an integral part in building TI’s billion-dollar analog semiconductor division and later moved to Silicon Valley to be part of the emerging semiconductor-based power conversion and energy management industry. He joined major Wall Street Investment banking firms Robertson Stephens and Alex. Brown (Later part of Deutsche Bank) as analyst and investment banker, rising to Partner while facilitating over $1 billion in IPO’s, acquisitions and other capital transactions. In his recent advising efforts (especially with newly public entities and managements), he helps sensitize boards and executive leadership in ways to effectively balance their communicating financial performance commitments to their stakeholders and the Street though developing crisp, longer term product strategies, social responsibility (ESG), rich external relationships and diversity in channels and resources so as to create effective, yet durable, positioning and maximizing equity valuations.
He holds an MS in Computer Science from the Univ. of Washington, an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Indiana Univ., A BS in Electrical Engineering and an Honorary Doctorate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He has actively served in advisory and board roles in governmental, NGO and universities, venture incubators as well as sustainability-, renewable energy- and climate change-focused organizations.
Mr. Jansen resides on Bainbridge Island (Seattle) with his wife, Lee Otis. They enjoy travelling, history and native arts, hiking, cycling and outdoor sports and share an enthusiasm for developing sustainable approaches to living.
