Guido Mathews is a senior healthcare and AI executive and a recognized Healthcare Ecosystem Architect, with more than 20 years of leadership experience at the intersection of pharmaceutical R&D, medical technology, digital platforms, and enterprise AI.
He has held multiple Vice President and General Manager roles within Bayer Pharmaceuticals, where he carried end-to-end accountability for AI strategy, digital platforms, regulated digital products, and global technology partnerships across R&D, and Commercial Operations. His work consistently focused on translating emerging technologies into scalable, compliant, and revenue-generating healthcare solutions. He founded and scaled Bayer’s AI Innovation Platform (AIIP) as a global execution engine for enterprise AI use cases, established robust AI governance and operating models, and positioned Bayer among the top AI-ready pharmaceutical companies worldwide. He also founded and built Centafore, transforming an internal Bayer medical imaging capability and cost center into a regulated, external-facing and profit generating Medical Imaging Core Lab serving global pharma and biotech customers. Across his career, Guido has led the creation of mission-critical digital platforms including Calantic (a global AI marketplace for radiology), Radimetrics 3.0 (enterprise radiation and contrast dose management), and multiple FDA- and MDR-adjacent solutions, including a product that achieved FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. He has driven complex cross- functional transformations spanning engineering, data science, clinical, regulatory, quality, IT, and commercial teams at global scale.
Earlier in his career, Guido also founded and operated small business, gaining firsthand experience with entrepreneurship, cash-flow management, customer acquisition, and end-to-end operational accountability.
A trusted executive advisor, Guido has served as a strategic partner to executive leadership and boards, shaping enterprise AI strategy, investment portfolios, and ecosystem partnerships with hyperscalers, startups, hospital networks, and regulators. He has played a key role in high-profile external collaborations, including selection into the U.S. ARPA-H INDEX program and co-sponsorship of the FDA AI Learning Experience Program. Guido is known for building high-performance, trust-based leadership cultures, combining scientific rigor, regulatory discipline, and entrepreneurial execution. His leadership philosophy centers on a simple conviction: impact in healthcare is created not by technology alone, but by ecosystems that connect data, AI, regulation, and clinical reality. He is based in Berlin, Germany, and is an active advisor, speaker, and thought leader in enterprise AI, regulated digital health, and healthcare ecosystems.
