He is seasoned problem-solver with wide-ranging leadership experience, both in Nova Scotia and internationally.
For just under nine years, as Chief Operating Officer of Trecan Combustion Ltd. a Nova Scotia manufacturer and the global leader in its product niche, he and the CEO together successfully managed rapid growth and built a leadership team and culture characterized by accountability and continuous improvement.
Previously, in association with the Halifax and Cape Breton Partnerships and a business association, he built and chaired a peer-to-peer business leadership program involving sixty CEOs and business owners in three Nova Scotia regions.
For many years, John led multiyear international projects, securing funding, building and guiding project teams, and negotiating with governments. He has directed or helped design over USD $400 million in projects across five continents for companies, governments, and international financial institutions.
His leadership of an industry association earned him an award for exceptional service.
John has a career-long interest in sustainability and was a Graduate of Yale University’s Corporate Environmental Leadership Program.
He has guest lectured in international management, technology commercialization and strategic alliance-building in venues as diverse as North American international management programs and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Fluent in English and French, he’s passionate about helping people grow their organizations — and themselves — in ways that last.
