Katrin Kaarna currently works as the Head of the Clinical Research Centre of Tartu University Hospital and Institute of Clinical Medicine, Tartu University. The Clinical Research Centre is a competence centre for clinical research in Estonia which grew out of an infrastructure project funded by the European Union. The aim is to ensure high-level medical experimental studies and academic clinical as well as pharmaceutical industry trials.

Katrin worked in the biggest global clinical research organization Quintiles (currently named IQVIA). She acted as founder and CEO at Quintiles Estonia OÜ, the Clinical Research Manager of Baltic States, the Strategy Director of Central Europe, the Global Lead and Team Member of the ’Risk Based’ monitoring and change management implementation team, and Senior Director of Clinical Operations.

Katrin has a long-term experience as a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Tartu and was a Head of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Trials.
