Omer Zabit is an investor, operator, and technology executive with extensive experience building and scaling high-growth businesses across emerging markets. He is a Partner at Shorooq, one of the leading venture capital firms in the Middle East and North Africa, where he invests in ambitious founders developing technology-driven solutions across sectors including fintech, healthcare, commerce, and enterprise software.

Prior to joining Shorooq, Omer spent several years at Careem, the region’s leading technology platform, where he held a range of senior leadership roles spanning general management, marketing, market expansion, and product. Most notably, he led the growth of Careem Food, helping build and scale the company’s food delivery business across multiple markets. Throughout his time at Careem, he played a key role in launching new products, expanding into new geographies, and driving growth in highly competitive markets.

Earlier in his career, Omer worked at some of Pakistan’s leading fintech and telecommunications companies, including JazzCash and Easypaisa, where he focused on product, pricing, and strategy. These experiences gave him deep insight into digital financial services, consumer technology, and the challenges of building products for large-scale emerging market populations.

In addition to his investing activities, Omer serves on the boards of several technology companies, bringing operational expertise and strategic guidance to founders as they scale their businesses. Having worked as both an operator and investor, he brings a unique perspective on growth, product-market fit, fundraising, market expansion, and company building.

As a mentor, Omer enjoys helping founders navigate the challenges of scaling technology businesses, particularly in emerging markets, and translating ambitious ideas into sustainable, high-growth companies.
