Peter is the founder or co-founder of several successful companies which are now public, including FPX Nickel, Orvana Mineral, Aquila Resources, as well as an angel investor and mentor in a number of startups. Peter has wide interests, but his particular passion is for technology and companies that help resource extraction be more efficient, sustainable way, and have a lower carbon footprint. Peter is the founder of BRIMM at the University of British Columbia, which promotes joint university/company research in all areas of mineral extraction from discovery to closure, particularly those areas which cross disciplines, reduce environmental impact and will improve sustainability. He has written a book on his ten years with Barringer Research and the development and application of instrumentation for geochemical exploration – for minerals and oil and gas, both ground and airborne, security – drug and explosives detection, the environment – SO2, NO2, CH4, Hg ground, airborne and some in a shuttle, analysis, and the first recorded use of laser ablation
Peter also has a PhD in geochemistry and has been directly involved in R&D and commercialization of inventions his whole professional life. He is also a member of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
