Rick is a Partner @ Deep Tech at Speedinvest, a leading European venture capital firm that invests in early stage startups across various sectors and geographies. He leads and manages the firm’s investment thesis in all deep tech domains, including AI, Quantum technologies, Material Science, Semiconductor, Cyber Security, Space Tech, Robotics, Battery and Fusion Technologies.

With a Master of Computer Science with Distinction from The University of Edinburgh and a Master of Business Administration – MBA from Imperial College Business School, Rick has a strong background in AI, as well as venture capital and technology. He is passionate about scientific breakthrough technologies and supporting the most ambitious and visionary entrepreneurs who are solving big and practical problems with technically advanced solutions.

Rick has led Speedinvest’s investments in multiple deep tech startups, such as Pimloc, PoroTech, Breathe Battery Technologies, Bitfount, QphoX, planqc, Solvo.ai, Cylib, Eunice, Lark Optics, Astral Systems and several others. He is also an active board member or observer in many of these companies, providing strategic guidance, operational support, and industry connections.

Rick believes that technology can help address some of the world’s largest challenges, from financial services, healthcare, mobility, robotics, cybersecurity and automation. He is driven by intelligent software that augments human intelligence and enables new possibilities. He is always on the lookout for the next frontier technologies that can transform industries and societies.
