Shefali Roy is a founding partner of First Look, a London-based venture fund investing in women and diverse entrepreneurs building technology in finance, health, the future of work, and real estate. Prior to that, she was the chief operating officer and chief compliance officer of TrueLayer from June 2017 to September 2020. She was an early employee at Stripe, where she was their chief compliance officer and MLRO for Europe, and responsible for the licensing regulatory oversight, including risk and compliance of Stripe’s operations in Europe. Prior to Stripe, Shefali led ethics, compliance, business conduct, and risk across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa for Apple, was the chief compliance and ethics officer for Christie’s worldwide, and was in private wealth compliance for Goldman Sachs across Europe and the Middle East.

Shefali is an Associate Fellow at Said Business School, Oxford and teaches on startups, organization behaviour and ethics, leadership, defi and crypto. She sits on the board of Tyro and is a strategic advisor to Barefoot College (India). Until 2021, she sat on the board of the Maker Foundation, the entity behind the DAI stablecoin.

Shefali is a graduate of RMIT, LSE, and Oxford University, where she gained undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law, economics and finance, and management. She lives in London and Melbourne.
